Meet the Doctor

A GP who reads every result

Brooksby Medical was founded by Dr James Coleman, a practising GP, to give you something most private blood testing services don't: a doctor who actually sits down with your results, connects the dots, and writes you a report that makes sense.

Dr James Coleman, GP and founder of Brooksby Medical

Why I started Brooksby Medical

I'm Dr James Coleman. I work as a GP, and I've spent years watching patients fall through the cracks of a system that's stretched too thin.

Patients would come to me worried about fatigue, or their cholesterol, or whether something they'd read about online actually applied to them. The honest answer was often: I'd love to run those tests for you, but we don't have the capacity right now. Or the turnaround is weeks. Or the panel we can offer doesn't go deep enough.

So people turned to private blood testing companies. And what they got back was a spreadsheet of numbers with a traffic-light system. Green, amber, red. No context. No clinical judgement. No one explaining what the numbers actually mean together.

I built Brooksby because I believe everyone deserves a doctor's opinion on their blood results, not just a set of reference ranges.

That's the gap Brooksby Medical fills. Every blood test you order from us is reviewed by me personally. I read your results, I connect the dots between markers, and I write you a report in plain English that tells you what your numbers actually mean, what (if anything) you should do about them, and when you need to see your GP.

I'm not an algorithm. I'm not a chatbot. I'm a practising GP with a BSc in Psychology, an MRCGP qualification, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. I've taught medical students, trained junior doctors, and spent thousands of hours in clinical practice. When I write your report, I bring all of that experience to bear on your results.

What makes Brooksby different

Every report written by a doctor

No automated traffic lights. No AI-generated summaries. Every Brooksby report is personally written by Dr James Coleman, a practising GP who reads your results in full, identifies patterns across markers, and writes you a clear explanation in plain English.

Beyond the traffic lights

Most private blood testing services tell you whether each number is “normal” or “abnormal”. That's the easy part. The harder, more valuable part is explaining what your numbers mean together. A ferritin of 18 is technically “normal”, but if your MCV is also dropping and you're exhausted, that's a clinical picture that matters.

Advice you can actually use

Your Brooksby report doesn't just describe your results. It tells you what to do with them. Whether that's lifestyle changes you can make now, supplements worth considering, or a clear recommendation to see your GP about a specific finding, you'll finish reading your report knowing exactly what happens next.
