Getting a private blood test in London
If you're looking for a private blood test in London, you have a few options. Walk-in clinics, home testing kits, and private hospitals all offer some form of blood testing. The difference is what happens after your blood is drawn.
Most services return your results as a list of numbers with automated flags. Brooksby Medical works differently. Every result is reviewed and reported by Dr James Coleman, a practising GP, who explains what your numbers mean in the context of your health, not just whether they fall inside a reference range.
We offer four ways to get tested in London:
Home finger-prick kit. We post a kit to your door. You take a small sample at home, drop it in the pre-paid envelope, and post it back. Results in 2-3 working days.
Arrange your own blood draw. We send you a venous collection kit. Take it to any phlebotomist you already use and post it back to our lab.
Attend a partner clinic. Book a professional venous blood draw at a partnered clinic in London. From £40 on top of your test price.
Home phlebotomist visit. A qualified phlebotomist comes to your home or workplace in London and takes a venous sample. From £65 on top of your test price.
Why venous collection matters for some tests
Finger-prick kits work well for many tests, but some biomarkers are more reliable from a venous sample. Hormone panels, full lipid profiles, and tests with multiple markers benefit from the larger blood volume a venous draw provides.
Tests that London patients commonly order
Fatigue and tiredness. Persistent tiredness is one of the most common reasons people order private blood tests. Our Iron Profile (£45), Nutrients and Energy Profile (£99), and Advanced Thyroid and Sex Hormones Check (£129) cover the biomarkers most commonly missed on a standard GP fatigue panel.
Heart health. Our Apolipoprotein B test (£45) goes beyond standard cholesterol panels to measure the particles that actually drive plaque buildup. For a broader picture, the Advanced Heart and Vascular Risk Profile (£219) includes ApoB, Lipoprotein(a), and Lp-PLA2.
Hormones. For women approaching or in perimenopause, the Menopause Hormone Blood Test (£59) checks FSH and oestradiol. For men over 40, the Over 40s Mens Health Blood Test (£199) covers testosterone alongside thyroid, liver, kidney, and cardiovascular markers.
General health screening. The Wellness Profile (£129) is our most popular comprehensive panel. It covers 50+ biomarkers across liver, kidney, thyroid, cholesterol, diabetes risk, inflammation, and key nutrients.

Why choose a GP-reviewed service
A private blood test is only as useful as the interpretation that comes with it. Automated reports flag results as normal or abnormal based on reference ranges, but they can't tell you what a borderline ferritin of 35 means for someone with heavy periods, or whether your slightly raised ALT is worth investigating further.
Every Brooksby report is written by a GP who looks at your results as a whole picture. If something needs attention, you'll know exactly what to discuss with your own doctor.
Written by Dr James Coleman, GP and founder of Brooksby Medical. Dr Coleman is a practising General Practitioner who founded Brooksby Medical to give patients direct access to the blood tests and clinical interpretation they need, without waiting lists.
