Advanced Lipid profile
Standard cholesterol tests only tell part of the story. This advanced profile measures Apolipoproteins A and B alongside Lipoprotein (a), uncovering hidden and often genetic risk factors for heart disease that routine checks miss. A deeper look at your true cardiovascular health.

Common questions
Everything you need to know before ordering your Advanced Lipid profile.
What does the Advanced Lipid Profile include?
This panel goes beyond a standard cholesterol test to include Apolipoproteins A and B (plus their ratio) and Lipoprotein(a) alongside your full lipid profile. These additional markers reveal genetic and particle-level risk factors that routine cholesterol checks miss.
How is this different from a standard cholesterol test?
A standard lipid profile measures total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides. This advanced panel adds ApoB (the protein on harmful cholesterol particles), ApoA (the protein on protective particles) and Lp(a) (a genetic risk factor). Many cardiologists now consider ApoB a more accurate predictor of heart risk than LDL alone.
Do I need to fast for this test?
Avoid fatty foods for 8 hours before testing for the most accurate triglyceride measurement. Water is fine and encouraged.
Who should consider this test?
Anyone wanting a more detailed picture of their cardiovascular risk, particularly those with a family history of heart disease, borderline standard cholesterol results, or those already managing cholesterol who want to track advanced markers.
How will I receive my results?
Secure online results with a GP-written explanation from Brooksby Medical in 2 to 3 working days.
