Apolipoprotein B
Many cardiologists now consider ApoB a more accurate predictor of heart risk than standard LDL cholesterol. This test measures the specific particles responsible for arterial plaque buildup, giving you a clearer and more precise picture of your cardiovascular health.

Common questions
Everything you need to know before ordering your Apolipoprotein B.
What is ApoB and why does it matter?
Apolipoprotein B is the protein found on every LDL, VLDL and Lp(a) particle in your blood. Because each harmful particle carries exactly one ApoB molecule, measuring ApoB gives a direct count of how many atherogenic particles are circulating. Many cardiologists now consider it a more accurate predictor of heart risk than standard LDL cholesterol.
How is this different from an LDL cholesterol test?
LDL cholesterol measures the amount of cholesterol carried in LDL particles. ApoB counts the actual number of particles. Two people can have the same LDL cholesterol but very different particle counts. Higher particle numbers mean greater risk, even when LDL looks normal.
Do I need to fast for this test?
No fasting is required. ApoB levels are not significantly affected by recent food intake.
Who should consider this test?
Anyone wanting a more precise measure of cardiovascular risk, those with a family history of heart disease, people with metabolic syndrome or insulin resistance, and anyone whose standard cholesterol results seem borderline.
How will I receive my results?
